Dear Santa-
I’ve been a good boy this year (sorta). If you overlook that one thing that happened at San Diego Pride… Anyway you know, Santa, that I like really nice things. I mean that’s what I’m all about; the best things. And in the spirit of Christmas & Oprah’s last season, here are Marcellas’ Favorite Things. I want them all Santa. Hot on the heels of a very rare and very public style slip from co-star and muse Blake Lively, Leighton Meester has unleashed a lace monstrosity of epic proportions on the world.
This lace jumper is like the scene in Aliens where Ripley says “Cover your eyes Newt.” It’s one of those moments where you ask yourself “does she not have one true friend?” If I knew Leighton and came to pick her up for the Harry Winston Court of Jewels Recreation launch (YES HARRY WINSTON!) and Leighton came downstairs in that lace jumper I would have been like “Girl take ya ass back upstairs and don’t come back down until you find your pants.” Or I would have gotten very ill at the sight of this lace monster and immediately asked to be taken to Bellevue, where I would have left Leighton by the side of the road, note attached to her bust “Lobotomy (obviously) needed.”
But the most frightening thing is this messy mass of lace is by Marchesa. I’m speechless. It’s like Georgina Chapman (Marchesa’s glamorous & gorgeous designer) pranked Leighton. And Ashton Kutcher was way too busy kissing Demi’s ass to turn up & yell “Psych! Sorry B, you’ve been Punk’d!” in his best Gossip Girl voice over.

This is September and I’m supposed to be excited about Fall/Winter ’10 Fashion. Honestly I’m not inspired. The shows echoed the same trends they have the past 4 seasons. 80’s, 60’s circa Mad Men, Classicism, Knitwear. Don’t get me wrong I love fashion & I have already purchased a new pair of boot cut trousers! (Yea! They’re back!) But isn’t there more?
Recently I saw Eat, Pray, Love with Julia Roberts (Mediocre, spent too much time in India, Julia is luminous as always, Viola Davis & James Franco’s talents are wasted.) and it started me thinking. Everyone’s journey isn’t about finding yourself chanting to a cold looking Indian woman while flies swarm around you. Some of us want to Eat, Pray and Love in other ways. Since this is my blog we’re going to CONSUME, WORSHIP & STALK with joie de vivre!

Tender Greens with 4 locations, 2 in LA & 1 in San Diego, and a 5th opening in Walnut Creek, is becoming the hippest, healthiest restaurant chain on the planet. The owners describe it as comfortably urban and the majority of the produce comes directly from farms here in California.
Magnolia Bakery in New York is my happy place. Since 1996 they have been open at the legendary Bleecker St. location. 4 NYC locations later, they have finally opened in LA’s Beverlywood neighborhood on the corner of 3rd & Orlando Av. Have the carrot cake cupcake. It’s all about the cream cheese frosting!
Much is written about the search for outer beauty. My life is about exulting the virtues of dressing well, living well and taking care of our skin and bodies. But what about inner beauty? Can you truly be beautiful outside if you are ugly within? And what constitutes inner beauty? Is it our personalities/mental outlook or is it our health/physical well-being? Well with TV shows like True Beauty and even America’s Next Top Model as well as innumerable others seeking to define just that question, I am tossing my proverbial hat in the ring.
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” is one of the worlds most famous idioms. It’s most often attributed to William Shakespeare but actually dates back to the 3rd Century. Justice Potter Stewart once tried to explain pornography, or what is obscene this way; “I shall not today attempt further to define the kinds of material I understand to be embraced.. but I know it when I see it…” Beauty is much like this. And trying to define inner beauty? Well you’d have to define what inner beauty means to you.
Summer is here and this is the season to show it off. It’s about tanks, shorts and the shortest minis possible for girls. It’s about putting your best face forward for late nights and ultimate exposure. So before you go out for a little fun in the sun, whether it be poolside, at the beach or just drinking with pals at an outdoor cafe, be sure to take extra good care of your skin. Here are my picks to make sure you have a glowing summer!
Skincare basics: cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize!
Cleanse:
Any good skincare regimen begins with a good cleanser. Normally I’m one for something that exfoliates as it cleanses. DDF Glycolic 5% Exfoliating Wash is my go to product for promoting cell turnover and removing dead skin. But sometimes you need a product that soothes the skin. Like when you spend a little too much time in the blistering summer sun. Murad Soothing Gel Cleanser removes impurities and helps calm and soothe the skin. Exfoliate:
