By now you’ve heard the sad news that The Meredith Vieira Show has been canceled. I could try & tell you what appearing on the show meant to me. I could say they found me when no one was looking for me, at a time when I was begging my agents for auditions & meetings. When I stopped believing in myself as a host and I thought my career on TV was over. I could say they gave me a platform that gave me back my career. I could say they encouraged me in ways no other show or crew ever has. I could tell you they were kind to me. I could say because of them I have health insurance & my SAG/AFTRA card. I could tell you that when I cut my face & broke my teeth filming for a different series that they helped fix me instead of cancelling me. Or I could show you each handwritten note I received from Meredith herself before every appearance, each more lovely than the last. But I guess I’ll just say that I’m in tears as I write this post. Tears of thankfulness to the team at Meredith Show for allowing me to be part of their story. Congrats on 2 great seasons!
Pants! Who doesn’t wear them? Pants are the cornerstone of everyone’s wardrobe. What is your go-to pair? Is it black trousers that elevate everything? Perhaps it’s jeans that you can now wear everywhere including the office? Or maybe it’s khakis that pair oh so well with bright colors? Of course we have basics in every cut, shape and length, from wide legged palazzos to leggings and jeggings, and the cutest capris. But what about gauchos, which have made a very stylish return. Or the newest trend, “athleisure” which is athletic inspired pants that can be worn with tennis shoes for running errands or heels for a night out with the girls. Check out my favorites, the dion track pants, and pair them with a black tank and strappy black heels for an oh-so-of-the-moment look!

It’s no coincidence that after the grayness of Winter comes the crush of color we call Spring. We crave it! Our eyes search for it. We long for the warmth of the sun’s yellow and golden rays. We’re starved for the lushness of green, in all it’s hues, as trees and grass come back to life around us. And who isn’t awed by the vibrance of Spring’s colorful blossoms?
This season Midnight Velvet and I are embracing “Fresh Color for Spring.” It’s a bold trend we saw on the runways in New York and Paris. It’s like the World’s great designers embraced their inner happy and want to spread joie de vivre! Now more than ever we need the fun, whimsy and optimism of color in fashion. Nothing communicates health, happiness and harmony more than that fabulous outfit you feel great in. Don’t get me wrong, black is chic! But when paired with vibrant red, lemony yellow, crisp white or royal blue it makes a powerful and positive statement about the wearer.
