The Week That Was…. 2

So I’ve decided that for a bit, I’m going to try, TRY, to blog everyday. I really don’t know how people can do it everyday. I feel like I lead an exciting life but talking about it everyday? Is there anyone who has anything that interesting to say? I love myself but that’s a lot.So here goes:
I hate people who use “your” instead of “you’re.” That is a common grammatical mistake that irks me. Hate is a bit strong. Pity? No… Whatever! It bothers me.

Apparently I caused a tempest in a teapot twice last week. I talked about how real reality TV is during an interview with Ben Patrick Johnson on Monday. I got in real trouble for kissing Ben. But it was innocent! I swear. I then went further on the same topic during an interview for a Montreal Talk-radio station, CJAD with Peter Anthony Holder. Hey my truth is my truth. I don’t pull punches. And I won’t lie. Unless I’m being paid for it. 😉

I recently purchased a king-size mattress and am a slave to it. It’s huge. No matter which way I lay upon it I don’t touch the edge. And it’s the best when there is more than one person in it. I got an Englander from Mattress King in West LA. And yeah I got an amazing deal because I’m “Marcellas from Big Brother.” Finally that helped. I love it so much I kinda regret not getting a Cal-King! Size matters baby.

The glorious thing about the new mattress is new sheets! King-size sheets. And I veered away from my normal white! Of course I got white as well as an amazing 500 thread count chocolate brown (eerily close to my own skin tone) and an amazing, gorgeous navy. I also got new pillows. New, new, new. I sleep like a prince!

I love my Sidekick 3! Love it, love it, love it. And I’ve become that guy that can’t let it go. Who will text and surf the net anytime. On the toilet (j/k), front row @ a fashion show, @ the cinema. Hell I walked 4 miles yesterday and managed to return emails, order DDF Glycolic Body Lotion @ Nordstrom.com and make tea reservations @ The Peninsula.

My MySpace friend Steven asked me to help him with a paper. You know I will always help a cute coed. The paper is on Paris Hilton of all things. Here’s the request:
I need your help again! I have to write a research paper on Paris Hilton, and well since you’re the only person I know who’s actually met her and you have a pretty good understanding of how crazy Hollywood can be, I thought I’d ask you.

So if you get the chance… could you answer these questions for me? You can be as mean or nice as you want. Thanks!

1. In your opinion, why is Paris famous?
2. Do you feel that the media portrays her differently then she really is?
3. Do you think the negative press towards Paris hurts or helps her “career”?
4. One of Paris’ main fan bases is gay men, in your opinion, why is that?
5. Do you believe that most of the things Paris does is for publicity, such as the sex video, the Nicole Richie feud, her t-mobile phone being hacked, etc etc.
6. Why do you think she is despised by so many people, yet still one of the most famous women in the world?

Thanks again! Any help would be appreciated!

And here are my answers:
1. In your opinion, why is Paris famous?
We’ve entered a phase when everyone no matter who, thinks they deserve their 15 minutes. Everyone not only wants to be Paris or Britney or Lindsay, they think they deserve it. Shows like The Simple Life and American Idol make that kid sitting @ home think fame is easy and steps to get it can be skipped. Voila, “I’m Famous.” Wasn’t it Andy Warhol who said, “In the future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes?” He’d love what’s happening right now. Also with the advent of reality TV and tabloid reporting we need more “celebs.”

2. Do you feel that the media portrays her differently then she really is?
I don’t think you can really ever know anyone. I do however think that Paris is crafting her public persona.

3. Do you think the negative press towards Paris hurts or helps her “career”?
Press is Paris’ career. It’s when no one covers her on any level, that she has a problem.

4. One of Paris’ main fan bases is gay men, in your opinion, why is that?
I wasn’t aware of that. I thought gay men had taste. But wait let’s dig deeper into the gay psyche. For most gay men the ultimate male is young, blond, buff. A Ken doll. Paris is, in a way, the female equivalent of that. A real-life Barbie for an idealized Ken.

5. Do you believe that most of the things Paris does is for publicity, such as the sex video, the Nicole Richie feud, her t-mobile phone being hacked, etc etc.
I think she is crafting a career and money-making persona. She has mastered the “no such thing as a bad thing” parable. Life hands you lemons, make pink champagne lemonade.

6. Why do you think she is despised by so many people, yet still one of the most famous women in the world?
NaS, the rapper said, “People hate what they can’t understand.” He also said they, “Fear what they can’t conquer.” Some people are jealous of anyone born with a silver spoon in their mouth. And Paris stands for the lowest, most common things an enlightened society should be about. And yet she exists and is unapologetic about it. I think that irks some. I happen to like her because @ the end of the day she shows up. She does her job.

I like Paris Hilton. I’ve met her 3 times. Each time she was unerringly sweet and kind. And you know what, she gives reality trash hope. Hope that we can spin this thing into something else. So brava for you Paris.

Alright enough for tonight. I’m going to L.A. Fashion Week tomorrow and I’m sure I’ll have lots to talk about after!

Talk soon…
